Dusmesh

The illustrious president, Joshua Vincent Falter, the first of his name, was pleased to host the May CASACC event at Dusmesh. Located in the up and coming neighbourhood of Northside, Dusmesh is often referred to as one of the best kept secrets of the city.

The stage was set for the momentous occasion by the president, who repeatedly called the establishment to inform them of the great honor that being a CASACC venue carries, as well as the tremendous responsibility that comes with it, to deliver at the highest culinary and cultural levels. In eager anticipation of our visit, the venue prepared seats of the highest visibility in the center of the establishment to highlight and glorify our presence.

As each member arrived, they were greeted with a complimentary super cold Coors Light in honor of Alan Patten and his lifelong love of the mountains. Complimentary poppadums were promptly delivered and flowed over the course of the evening.

The establishment offered a BYOB policy and members were encouraged to bring their own drinks to quaff and to share. Notable highlights included many local craft bevies from breweries including Rhinegeist and Madtree, with Coors Light continuing to be offered to quell the myriad spices and flavors encountered. Members were particularly impressed with this policy, both for the selection it garnered from the crowd, and for the reduced final costs on the bill.

The meal started auspiciously with Tyson Tozier ordering some pickled mango for the table, which was shared by all. Many laughs were had when Tyson inquired to the table as to why the pickles had bones in them after nearly chipping a tooth on what turned out to be part of the seed of the fruit. The one major offense of the evening also occurred as a result of the pickled mango, as young Nathan Murray was awarded a Yellow Card after publicly spitting out his portion of pickle in a manner completely unbecoming a CASACC member. He was sternly spoken to for drawing negative attention to our members, and warned that additional repercussions would be incurred if his behaviour did not quickly improve. The president was celebrated for his quick and decisive actions in this situation to quietly maintain the order. Glory be to the blazer.

The main courses were noted to be of adequate portions, featuring good flavour while being a bit light on the spice. The naan was exceptional and enjoyed by the many. It was noted that the dishes were a bit light on the meat, but not to a level that was detrimental to the overall meal.

The dessert amendment was challenged and upheld by a 6-5 vote, which led to mango sorbet being ordered by many of the less respected members at the table. The sorbet was deemed to be too icy and not creamy enough, which many found to be apropos given the questionable decisions made to order dessert in the first place.

The president introduced the newest CASACC candidate, JJ Wurtz, who was confirmed by unanimous vote at the end of the meal. Votes were also cast to remove Kenny Noyes and Brett Hanes from the group, both of which were ratified, Kenny unanimously, and Brett by a 7-4 vote. Discussion was also had of removing Lance Shumaker from the group, but it was argued and upheld by Nathan Murray to extend Lance's membership by an additional month. Lance, do try to do better please, or we will be forced to remove you and slander your name.

Overall, the event was outstanding. The food was extremely well regarded, the company was excellent and the president was firm but fair. The evening was rounded out with the appointment of RJ Poddar to the position of president, which he eagerly accepted. Glory be to the blazer.
