2015 Holiday Party – Bombay Brazier

Date of Visit: December 11th, 2015
President: Mr. Holley
The Show: 12
The Score: 8.68

December is the time of year to celebrate the previous 11 months, and when it comes to curry there is no exception - December is when the club visit the restaurant rated the highest throughout the year. Bombay Brazier (BB) achieved that feat by 0.01 points which goes to show how important each minor point is when pleasing customers with such high expectations as the CASACC members.

As always, we started by congregating in a local bar. BB is situated perfectly to allow for a gentle stroll from a number of bars (or other restaurants if you are feeling extremely hungry that day), and also provides ample parking to cater for the American way of life.

After an hour in the bar (or 3 for those lucky enough to get off work early) we proceeded across the parking lot to the restaurant. We all knew what to expect, but were reminded early by the amazing smell of Indian food that the restaurant pumps out across the area.

As with our previous meeting we were greeted warmly by the staff and the manager and we took our seats in an area surrounded by impressive decorations; mainly pictures and swords. One member also commented on how good the music was, creating a wonderful dining atmosphere.

Drinks were ordered, as were the complimentary poppadums, and both sets of orders arrived in an acceptable timeframe. The selection of starters and mains was impressive, and orders were swiftly taken.

In terms of starters the Shorba got very high praise from the members, and almost every main dish got very high praise. Something worth noting is just how hot and spicy the food is which many believe gives this restaurant the edge over other local restaurants. If you want it hot it comes HOT!

Some of the most notable comments from the group were as follows:

  • Amazing food
  • Great experience
  • Nicest restaurant I’ve been to
  • Great service
  • Best experience I’ve had in restaurant

Now I would question what lives some members have lead in order to rate the restaurant the best they have ever been to but these are clearly very positive comments, and maybe this truly is the best restaurant they’ve been to.

Some of the areas for improvement were captured as follows:

  • Food too hot (although I would say on the next visit you would have learned your lesson here)
  • Confusion over the checks
  • The cost is high – equal highest of all of our visits in 2015

Those are all minor points and with the cost, although we would like to see this come down a bit the restaurant is placing itself in the top quality bracket of Indian restaurants in the area so it is to be expected.

To top off what was already a great experience Rip Sidhu (the proprietor) presented us with some rum on the house which was a tremendous gesture. The group ensured that the rum didn’t last long!

Our constitution states that we will revisit the restaurant in 2016 to allow it to defend its glory, and I’m sure I speak for the rest of the group when I say I am looking forward to returning to the 2015 winner.
